This summer I reached a milestone birthday, and in so doing came to a realization that my younger self would have strongly disagreed with – FIFTY IS NOT OLD. How foolish I was in my youth. That being said, this new-found perspective is also kept in check by the arrival of my AARP card and additional reasons to go to the doctor. No matter how young I feel, I have begun to be more aware of my own mortality. I therefore, have two choices. I can be engrossed in sadness and uncertainty or I can be increasingly open to the Lord’s love for me and desire to live my life in a way that seeks an eternity that only the Lord can provide.
